The Sure Word for Today: God Gave Me a Sound Mind.
Reaching A Decision: Minimising Risk. — Part 3.
Slaves are now our rulers, and there is no one to set us free. We are in danger from brutal desert tribes; we must risk our lives just to bring in our crops. Our skin is scorched from fever and hunger.
Lamentation 5:8-10 (CEV)
Stop making a hasty decision when you are not in the right frame of mind. It is better to wait and see the pictures more clearly before reaching a decision. Think it through thoroughly. Making decisions irrationally could put you under huge pressure that could be disastrous.
Jephthah faced rejection from his half-brothers and people from his community because his mother was a prostitute. They chased Jephthah from his home, but he soon gained a reputation among a band of “vain men”, and became famous. The elders of his community contacted him and appointed him the head of the army because he was the most qualified. Jephthah was wise here and negotiated a deal. He was to lead his country’s military to war against a neighbouring enemy country and here he made a vow to God to give to the Lord whatsoever comes out of his house to greet him after the war. It all turned out that his only child came running to greet him and he was disappointed.
The sacrifice of Jephthah was not that of burnt offering, but he offered his daughter to serve in the temple for she bemoaned her virginity and not her death. Jephthah has a war before him; he could have thought through his choice of a vow. So many times we find ourselves in an awkward position where we are fixed and can’t imagine a way through. It is not the swiftness in taking a decision that matters, but what matters most is for one to make the right decision for the right reason with the exact solution.
God will turn all your impossibilities into solutions, and you will live above every challenge that tries to weigh you down. Every past decision that is causing depression and anxiety in your life will cease to exist today in the name of Jesus. They shall bow and disintegrate from the face of the earth as you call on the name of Jesus. Nothing can separate you from the love of God.
