Make Time for Your Highlight — Part 7.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:13 (KJV).
The truth is I don’t have new year resolutions. Making these so-called resolutions and keeping up to them for a while is a waste of valuable time. Why would I say it is a waste of time? I say so because most resolutions are abandoned. You waste all the time and effort you committed initially.
New Year Resolution is not my highlight, so I don’t make time for it. Every year more than 50% of people make New Year’s resolutions to lose weight, quit smoking, work out, save money, get a promotion, get a raise, and more. And yet, virtually every study tells us that around 80% of New Year’s resolutions will get abandoned around the middle of February. In fact, one study found that gym sales dropped precipitously from January to February.
I had one of these excellent New Year’s communications from an associate:
Hi Jeff, I hope you had a great time with your family and friends and are now ready to start the year 2022 with new ideas and plans in your head.
My reply:
Hi, Thanks for your message. I hope you are well and making the most of your life. I started the New Year some distant years back as I built my life on continuous development. There is no gap, no New Year. It is one flow of events as I continue improving myself and developing my goals further.
Their response to my reply:
There is no gap, no New Year - this sounds WOW!
Sure, it sounds wow. I am working on myself daily to be a better product. My life is in a continuous state of development, and from one iteration to the next, I am improving my quality. Making a New Year’s Resolution is like stopping all this progress and starting an entirely different project. There will be confusion. I instead continue to build, develop, and improve. My life is a process cycle.
Stop wasting time on everything. Which highlight will bring you the most satisfaction at the end of the day? That is what you deal with first. You will feel accomplished at the end of the day, even if you did not accomplish anything else.
