"The Abundance of the Free Favour of the Lord." Luke 4:18-19
Hi Visitor,
Rest is not a reward; it is a requirement. Exodus 20:9-10 commands, "Six days shalt thou labour… But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it, thou shalt not do any work." God, who needs no rest, established a pattern of rest to show its importance. You are not designed to be in constant motion. Balance is only possible when you honour the rhythm of both work and rest.
Work is good; it builds, provides, and produces. However, without rest, work becomes a source of pressure. When rest is neglected, creativity fades, decision-making suffers, and burnout creeps in unnoticed. True rest is not just physical; it includes mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects as well. It is the intentional pause that resets your energy, renews your focus, and restores your strength.
Look at your current rhythm. Are you working without pausing? Pushing without breathing? That is not sustainable. Build Sabbath moments into your life. Block time to be still. Let silence minister. Honour your limits. Rest is not wasting time; it is wise stewardship of your strength.
Think of a time when rest gave you clarity or strength that work alone could not provide. That pause was not lazy; it was necessary. Imagine what your life could look like if you protected moments of rest with the same passion you protect your tasks.
Jesus said, "Come unto me… and I will give you rest." He slept during storms, withdrew after miracles, and rested before big decisions. His rhythm was not rushed. Let His pace guide your own. Rest is not weakness; it is wisdom.
Schedule one block of intentional rest this week, with no work and no demands. Use it to reflect, breathe, and reset. Let it be your act of faith and balance. You cannot pour from an empty place.
"Rest is not a break from progress; it is the fuel that makes progress sustainable. Protect it like your future depends on it because it does."
May God bless your heart with permission to rest without guilt. May He renew your strength, refresh your mind, and restore your peace. Let your life reflect a pace of grace, not pressure. May you work with focus and rest with purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.
