The Sure Word for Today

Day 3: Obedience Requires Courage

Obedience to God often demands courage because His instructions sometimes stretch you beyond what feels safe or comfortable. Abraham was commanded to leave his homeland without knowing where he was going, yet he obeyed because he trusted God’s word. Hebrews 11:8 says, “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” Obedience and courage walk hand in hand.

Fear asks, “What if I fail?” but faith declares, “If God commanded it, He will sustain it.” Courageous obedience is not about having all the answers. It is about trusting that God’s direction is always for your good, even when it is unclear. When you obey, you invite His provision, protection, and purpose to unfold in your life.

Today, embrace obedience as an act of boldness. Take the step God is asking of you, even if it feels uncertain. His command carries the strength you need to follow through.

Connect (Your Challenge and Response)

Your challenge may be hesitating to follow God’s instruction because of uncertainty. Your response must be to obey with courage, trusting that His plan is greater than your fear.

Extend (Faith in Action)

Practice obedience in a small way today. Say yes to what God has placed in your heart, even if it challenges your comfort. Obedience in little things prepares you for greater assignments.
