Key Bible Verse: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
—
 Matthew 11:28–30

Finding Rest in God’s Presence. Part 1

Affirmation: "I come to Jesus daily, and I receive true rest. My soul is settled, my burdens are lifted, and I walk in peace, strength, and obedient trust."

The Sure Word for Today

Day 1: Come to Jesus First and Release Every Burden Instead of Carrying It Alone

Jesus does not invite the strong. He invites the burdened. Matthew 11:28 begins with a command and a promise. Come, and I will give you rest. Rest starts when you stop running in your own strength, and you return to Christ with what is weighing you down. He does not demand perfection before relief. He calls you to bring the load you cannot carry.

Many people stay heavy because they keep the burden private. They say, “I will handle it,” and they collapse silently. Jesus offers a different way. He says, take my yoke and learn of me. That means you surrender control and accept His guidance. A yoke represents direction and partnership. You stop dragging life alone. You walk with Him, and He teaches you how to live without anxiety ruling your decisions.

Today, practise the first step of rest. Come to Jesus before you speak to people, before you scroll for distraction, before you rush into activity. Name the burden and release it to Him in prayer. Then obey the next instruction He gives, whether it is rest, repentance, boundaries, or a wiser pace. His burden is light because His way is ordered. When you return to Him first, rest becomes a lifestyle, not a rare moment.

Connect: Your Challenge and Response

You may feel responsible for everything and everyone, so you keep carrying loads that drain you. Respond by coming to Jesus first, then release what you cannot control.

Extend: Faith in Action

Write down your three heaviest burdens. Pray over each one and hand it to Jesus. Then choose one boundary or practical change today that reduces your load and protects rest.

Reflection And Application

What burden have I been carrying alone?
Why have I resisted bringing it to Jesus first?
What must I release today?
What must I obey today?
What boundary must I establish to protect rest?

Inspirational Quote by Jefferson Otonbara Imgbi

“Rest begins when you stop pretending you can carry everything. Come to Jesus first, release the load, obey His direction, and watch peace become your new daily strength.”

Let Us Pray

Father, I come to You through Jesus. I release every burden, and I receive Your rest. Teach me Your ways and strengthen me to obey. Settle my soul, guide my steps, and keep me in peace and disciplined trust. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
