Recognising Early Warning Signs. Part 3

The Sure Word Devotion
Day 3: Sleep Speaks Early
Sleep is one of the earliest places where mental strain can show. When your mind is under pressure, sleep may become broken, delayed, excessive, or restless. Proverbs 27:12 teaches prudence, which means noticing danger early and taking protective action. Sleep changes are not small matters. They can affect mood, concentration, patience, appetite, and decision-making.

Poor sleep can make anxiety louder and low mood heavier. It can also reduce your ability to cope with normal pressure. Some people ignore sleep problems because they are busy or because they think tiredness is normal. But consistent sleep disruption is a warning sign that your body and mind need attention. Wisdom asks honest questions. What changed recently? What am I carrying at night? What habits are keeping my mind alert when it should be resting?

Today, listen to what your sleep is saying. Do not wait until exhaustion controls your day. Create one simple sleep protection step. Reduce late-night scrolling. Pray before bed. Write down worries instead of replaying them. Keep your room calmer. Ask for help if sleep problems continue. Sleep is part of stewardship. When you protect rest, you protect your mind and strengthen your ability to respond early.

What sleep boundary will I set tonight?
Who should I speak to if this continues?
