Day 3: Love Does Not Envy
Love does not envy because envy turns marriage into comparison instead of partnership. In marriage, envy can appear when one spouse feels overlooked, less valued, less successful, or less celebrated. Instead of rejoicing together, the heart begins to compete quietly. True love does not resent the growth, gift, favour, progress, or strength of the other person. True love celebrates what blesses the home.
Envy damages intimacy because it creates hidden tension. A spouse may stop encouraging, start criticising, or feel threatened by the other person’s progress. This weakens unity. Marriage is not a contest between two people. It is a covenant where both rise together. Your spouse’s strength should not make you feel small. Their blessing should not make you bitter. Their progress should become a reason to give thanks, not a reason to withdraw.
Today, reject envy and choose partnership. Celebrate one good thing in your spouse without comparison. Speak encouragement where you may have been silent. Thank God for what He is doing in their life. If insecurity is present, face it honestly and bring it to God. Love becomes stronger when husband and wife stop competing and start building each other with joy.
