Make Time for Your Highlight — Part 5.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:13 (KJV).
The hour in a day is 24 hours anywhere in the world. It is not possible to expect 24 hours to miraculously turn into 25, but there are techniques to help you extract more efficiency from your day. We do more in the same amount of time, and for me, it gives me 27 hours in a day. Getting up early, around 3 am, gives me more time to tackle my to-do list while my mind is fresh and at its peak. It makes me a little more proactive.
I will be honest with you. It is not easy to get up first thing in the morning when it's still dark if you are not a morning person. Record number of successful people have this concept "If you win the morning, you win the day." Waking up and starting before sunrise makes them winners. They start winning when so many are still sleeping. How can you catch up with them? They perform better. They achieve their goals earlier and have enough time for something else. They squeeze more hours from the daily 24 hours.
Your MIT (i.e., Most Important Task) is your target once you wake up early. Identifying and then working to accomplish your MIT is one way to ensure you achieve one thing ideally. This way, it is sure that you accomplished your most important task, making it easier to complete the other daily tasks.
Most times, you react. Learn the Pomodoro Techniques. Pick your MIT and set your timer for 25 minutes. Work on the task until your timer rings. Stop and do nothing else during this time. Take a 5-minute break. Repeat the process again as many times. Your productivity will be improved. It will help you stay focused on the task at hand.
The tone for the day is set by a morning routine. Having a prescribed pattern helps you stay focused and increases your productivity. A daily work plan will enable you to determine the course of your day and then encourage you to make incremental progress toward your goals. Actual efficiency means focusing on one thing at a time and finishing it before moving on to the next task.
