Healthy Conflict Resolution| Part 2

The Sure Word Devotion
Day 2: Do Not Sin in Anger
Anger becomes dangerous when it crosses the line into sin. In marriage, this can happen through insults, shouting, threats, manipulation, blame, revenge, or silent punishment. A person may feel hurt and still choose a righteous response. A person may feel provoked and still refuse to wound the one they love. Healthy conflict begins when anger is brought under discipline.

To be angry and not sin means your emotions must submit to godly wisdom. It means you do not use pain as permission to dishonour your spouse. It means you do not speak words that crush, expose private matters, or attack character. Love allows honest conversation, but it does not allow cruelty. Truth must be spoken with care, not used as a weapon.

Today, examine how anger behaves in your marriage. Do you raise your voice? Do you shut down to punish? Do you bring up old matters to win? Do you say things you later regret? Choose a better path. Stop before anger becomes sin. Ask God for strength to speak with restraint, listen with humility, and repair quickly. Conflict handled with discipline can lead to understanding. Conflict handled with sin creates deeper wounds.

Reflection and Application
When does my anger cross the line?
What sinful habit appears during conflict?
Do my words heal or wound?
How can I speak truth with care?
What boundary will protect our marriage today?

Inspirational Quote by Jefferson Otonbara Imgbi
“Anger does not have to become sin. Mature love feels the pain, controls the mouth, protects honour, and chooses peace over punishment.”

Let Us Pray
Father, help us not to sin in anger. Teach us restraint, wisdom, and humility during conflict. Guard our words, tone, and actions. Let truth be spoken with love, and let our marriage be protected from wounds caused by uncontrolled anger. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
