Healthy Conflict Resolution| Part 3

The Sure Word Devotion
Day 3: Repair Before Nightfall
Conflict should not be left to harden in the heart. When anger remains unresolved, it can become resentment, distance, suspicion, and coldness. Marriage needs timely repair because delay gives offence more room to grow. You may not solve every issue immediately, but you can choose not to sleep with bitterness ruling your spirit.

Repair before nightfall does not mean rushing a shallow apology or forcing a difficult conversation when emotions are still high. It means refusing to let anger own the relationship. It means saying, “We may need more time to talk, but I do not want bitterness between us.” It means keeping the door open for peace, prayer, forgiveness, and understanding.

Today, practise timely repair. If there is tension, do not pretend it is not there. Reach out with humility. Lower your tone. Admit your part. Ask for a better time to talk if needed. The goal is not to win before the day ends, but to stop anger from becoming a settled place in the marriage. Love repairs quickly because peace is too valuable to delay.

Connect: Your Challenge and Response
You may avoid repair because silence feels easier than humility. Respond by reaching out today and refusing to let anger settle overnight in your marriage.

Extend: Faith in Action
Before the day ends, address one tension gently. Apologise where needed, suggest a peaceful conversation, or reassure your spouse that love remains stronger than conflict.

Reflection and Application
What conflict have I allowed to linger?
Do I delay repair because of pride?
How can I keep peace open tonight?
What apology or reassurance is needed?
How can we handle unresolved issues wisely?

Inspirational Quote by Jefferson Otonbara Imgbi
“Do not let anger sleep beside your love. Repair quickly, speak gently, and keep peace alive before bitterness finds a place in your heart.”

Let Us Pray
Father, help us repair quickly and wisely. Remove bitterness, pride, and delay from our hearts. Teach us to seek peace before anger settles. Let our marriage be protected by humility, forgiveness, and timely love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
