Day 4: Love Rejects Pride
Pride weakens love because it makes marriage about winning, proving, and defending instead of understanding, serving, and growing. When pride enters the heart, apology becomes difficult, listening becomes shallow, and correction feels like attack. Love does not vaunt itself because true love does not need to boast, dominate, or make the other person feel small.
Pride can hide behind silence, stubbornness, harsh correction, refusal to apologise, or the need to always be right. In marriage, pride says, “I must win.” Love says, “We must grow.” Pride protects the ego. Love protects the relationship. A proud heart can destroy peace even when the issue is small. A humble heart can restore connection even when the issue is difficult.
Today, reject pride through one clear act of humility. Apologise where needed. Admit where you were wrong. Listen without defending. Serve without demanding recognition. Choose unity over ego. A strong marriage is not built by two people trying to appear superior. It is built by two people willing to humble themselves, honour each other, and let love lead.
